Well and ICV management in a carbonate reservoir with high gas content

The management of oil fields that present high gas content is challenging, mainly in cases where this represents a bottleneck for production due to platform constraints. One way deal with problem the use ICVs (Interval Control Valves), which enables be controlled by zones wells. In work, we propose methodology using reactive control rules producers and ICVs, GOR as monitoring variable, improve economic performance field. We compare field three ways: (a) well shutting down when they reach an uneconomic limit, (b) on-off type (c) application multi-position ICVs. extend algorithm IDLHC (Iterative Discrete Latin Hypercube) optimization process context. This study made synthetic simulation case (Lira1_2022) characteristics Brazilian pre-salt carbonate karstic features, CO2 WAG (Water-Alternate-Gas) injection recovery mechanism. results demonstrated has great potential increase field, both indicators, compared shut-in management.
